Great news for people with high definition television sets who like Dish Network, local channels in High Definition are now available broadcast through Dish Network in the Cleveland and Akron areas. Yes, now you can see LeBron James in High Definition through the Dish Network Satellite System.
Customers who don’t have Dish Network can sign on and get a free HD receiver. The basic package of HD only channels is $29.99. The cost of Canton Local Channels is added on top of that. If you want the HD DVR, that includes 350 hours of standard definition record time and 55 hours of HD recording (you do want this) there is also an additional $7 a month HD DVR fee. To get the free equipment and installation new customers need to sign a two year contract.
Existing customers can also upgrade to HD promotions. You do need a 24 year contract, and a new High Definition Programming. The installation and shipping fee for the new HD receiver for existing customers is $100. The miniumum HD package is an additonal $10 each month, and if you want the DVR it is an additional $7 a month for a HD DVR.
There are costs but seeing it’s a great time to get local High Definition programming through your Dish Network service in the Cleveland and Akron OH areas.

Comcast is experimenting with a new cable set-top box that uses a camera and recognition techniques to see who is in the room, bring up their “viewer profile,” and tailor ads to them. Although Winston Smith would shudder, the Department of Homeland Security is probably giddy with excitement.
